The 2025 renewal of the Tattersalls October Yearling Sale once again proved to be a highlight of the bloodstock calendar, with Book 1 bringing together the finest yearlings, buyers and breeders from across the globe. For Watership Down, it was another highly successful week at Park Paddocks, where we sold nine yearlings.
Throughout the sale, our draft attracted strong interest from both domestic and international buyers, with a steady flow of visitors to the yard from the opening inspections through to the final day. It was particularly pleasing to welcome many familiar faces alongside new clients, all drawn by the consistency and quality that underpin our yearlings year after year.
The results reflected that demand. For the fifth consecutive year, we sold a yearling for over 1 million guineas at the Tattersalls Book 1 Yearling Sale, a milestone that continues to highlight the strength of our draft and the confidence shown in our consignments at the very top end of the market.
Topping our draft was Lot 266, a colt by No Nay Never out of the Group 1 Cheveley Park Stakes winner Millisle. A colt who stood out throughout inspections for his presence, balance and athleticism, he realised 1.9 million guineas to M V Magnier & White Birch Farm following competitive bidding. He was a colt who consistently drew attention during the week and duly delivered in the ring.
Close behind was Lot 498, a filly by Frankel out of the Group 3 winner Ville de Grace, who sold for 1.5 million guineas to Juddmonte. Combining an outstanding pedigree with an exceptional physical, she was widely admired during inspections and ultimately finished as the top-priced filly of the entire sale, a result that further underlined the depth and quality of the draft.
Beyond the headline lots, the strength of the draft was evident across all nine yearlings, with consistent demand throughout and a total aggregate of 4,860,000 guineas. These results saw Watership Down once again finish among the leading consigners at Book 1, a position we are proud to maintain year after year.
