The 2026 yearling sales season is beginning to take shape, with preparations well underway across both Watership Down Stud and Kiltinan Castle Stud.

The coming months represent an important period in the calendar, culminating in the Tattersalls October Yearling Sales, where Book 1 will once again be a particular focus for the team.

Long before a yearling enters the sales ring, a considerable amount of time, expertise and attention to detail goes into its preparation. Each individual is carefully managed, with programmes tailored to ensure they arrive at the sales in the best possible condition.

Across Watership Down Stud and Kiltinan Castle Stud, the team are now entering this important stage of the year, building towards the autumn sales while maintaining the high standards of horsemanship that underpin every aspect of the operation.

Courtney Palmer, Assistant Stud Manager at Watership Down Stud, takes us behind the scenes to discuss the early stages of sales preparation and what the next two months will involve as the team works towards Tattersalls Book 1.
